KALEID 2012
The inaugural European artists’ book event will take place this year in London on Saturday the 21st July 2012.
KALEID editions invites submissions from European based artists for an exhibition and book fair; to showcase the best of artists’ books to an international audience, to attract private and public collections and to establish a networking event for creative practitioners.
KALEID 2012 is supported by Art Academy London, the British National Art Library and English Arts Council’s Saison Poetry Library.
How it works
KALEID 2012 will exhibit a plethora of artists’ books, focusing on the form of the book as unique pieces or editions, to complement contemporary ideas with traditional book arts. We encourage artists practising in different mediums to apply; drawing, printmaking, painting, sculpture, book arts, digital media and performance.
Judging for awards and acquisitions will take place on Friday the 20th July, between 4-8pm. The exhibition and book fair will be open to public visitors on Saturday 21st July, between 11am-8pm.
KALEID editions supports ‘artists who do books’ and will further represent twenty-five selected pieces at the London Art Book Fair in September 2012.
Location
KALEID 2012 will take place at Art Academy London, a charitable Arts institution located in London Bridge. Stalls are available to selected visiting artists on the ground floor (1500sq ft) and a curated exhibition on the first floor (1000sq ft) will showcase individual pieces to support artists whom may be unable to attend in person. Book Arts demonstrations will run throughout the day on the lower floor.
Fee
A fee of 10€ per book applies to each submission and funds raised will contribute to the running costs of the event.
There is no fee for a stand or commission on the sale of artists' books in the book fair.
20% commission applies to the sale of artists’ books in the exhibition.
Payment for postage and packaging is the responsibility of the artist.
